FRIENDS AGM OUR SCHOOL NEEDS YOU!!
The Friends of GLPS will be holding their AGM tonight
at 7.00pm in the school library. Last year the Friends, despite
being a small committee, raised an amazing amount of money which
supported paying for the interactive whiteboards and the
purchase of a much needed seating and shade structure which has
been installed in the playground. Please come along and give
them your support.
CHARITY EVENTS THIS TERM
Although we are regularly overwhelmed with requests to
raise money for a range of charities, we try to choose events
that interest and involve all of our children that are both fun
and informative without great expense. With this in mind, we
have chosen to support the following charities this term.
Jeans for Genes Day 5 October
This charity raises money to support research into
gene therapy. On Friday 5 October children are invited to wear
jeans or denim for a donation to the charity.
MK Rotary Club Shoe Box Scheme starts 15 October
This scheme provides treats for children in
orphanages in Eastern Europe. Children will be invited to bring
in unwanted items to fill shoe boxes which will then be
distributed in time for Christmas. The scheme will run between
Monday 15 October until Friday 16 November. More details will
follow in a leaflet nearer the time.
BBC Children in Need - 16 November
As in previous years, children are invited to come to
school in non school uniform in return for a donation to the
charity.
CHRISTMAS PERFORMANCE Foundation Stage & Years 1 & 2
We would like to give parents early notice of a
change in the timings of our Christmas performances this year.
There will be no evening performance this year, instead there
will be a morning performance on 11th December at 10.45am and an
afternoon performance on 12th December at 2pm. Over the past
couple of years it has become increasingly difficult to ensure a
full cast of performers outside school hours. More details and
ticket request forms will be sent out nearer the time. Please be
aware that initially only 2 tickets per family will be
available.
